About Us

I would like to welcome you to the Burrumbeet Ski and Boat Club’s Web site, and invite you to visit our Clubhouse and facilities, located in Russell Reserve, on the South shore of Lake Burrumbeet, 15 kms west of the Ballarat CBD. Russell Reserve can be found by travelling out Cuthberts Rd till you meet a T intersection, with the South shore of the lake on your right. Turn right at the T intersection then left into Russell Reserve 100 metres from the edge of the lake. Follow the gravel road, approx 2 km to the Clubhouse.

The Club currently has 90 members, which includes individual as well as family memberships. Our Annual Meeting for this year was held on Aug. 7 th, but from 2012 onwards the Annual General Meeting will be held at the end of October, when all membership fees for the upcoming season will be due and payable. A committee consisting of Commodore (President), Vice Commodore, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Officer, and Committee members, meets monthly, on the first Monday evening of each month (except January), beginning at 7.30 pm, at the Clubhouse.

To join the Club, there is an initial nomination fee of $100, and $150 per year for a family, and $100 a year for an individual member. Any family member joining as a single member, ( over 18) or any individual member changing his/her membership from single to family, or a former member rejoining the club, is not required to pay the nomination fee.

Membership of the Club entitles members to use all Club facilities, including a key to the Clubhouse. Facilities include toilets, showers, kitchen, wood fire, barbecue, tables and chairs. All members are invited to participate in Club events and social occasions such as the Christmas Family Day, Coaching clinics, fundraisers, Car Trials, and Club competitions. The facilities are for use of members and their guests

The Club is a family friendly club with lots of advantages for water skiing enthusiasts. There is a public boat ramp located beside the Clubhouse, a lovely grassed area for club members to relax on, and a gently sloping beach area for children to play. Even if you are just getting into boating and waterskiing, there are many experienced skiers and members who are willing to help out.

The Club has produced many state and national champions over the 40 years the club has been established, with a small number even competing in international championships. Members have competed in all types of waterskiing events ranging from ski racing, 3 event tournaments, wakeboarding, barefooting and marathons. One member, Peter O’Neill won a World Championship in 1999, competing as a junior in the World Junior Barefooting Championships, in Texas.

There are also a small number of Life Members who have given long, consistent and dedicated service to the Club.
